Josh Kliner - Head Varsity Coach

The 2019 baseball season is Coach Kliner's 12th year as head coach of the El Modena Baseball program. The Vanguards have won two league championships in his six years and have won at least one playoff game in each of their five appearances in the posts He and his staff have seen many of their players continue playing at the collegiate and professional level. In 2010, he was named to coach the North Orange County All-Star Team. Prior to becoming head coach, he was an assistant at El Modena for three years for current athletic director Steve Bernard. Coach Kliner played baseball at Cypress College where he was captain of the 1994 California State Championship team. After Cypress College, he received a scholarship to play at the University of Kansas. At KU, Coach Kliner was named the Big 8 Conference Player of the Year in 1996 as well as earning 1st Team Division I-A All American honors as a second baseman. He also played 4 1/2 seasons of professional baseball.. Coach Kliner is an RSP English teacher at El Modena. His true joy is spending time with his wife Amy and their two young girls, Mia and Ava.
